“splendor in the grass” by Droog

I build for studio Droog their installation “Splendor in the grass” at the museum of sex in New York. It consists of five tents where the visitor undergoes a erotic experience when entering a specific tent.

At my studio i made the five tents on a small scale to research and eventually build the interactive part. For this i didn’t use Arduino but Frightprops as the exhibition had to last for one year and we couldn’t accept any failures. Also these devices are strong enough to hold high peak currents.

We had a five projector setup where the whole room would be lit with video giving the space a day and night cyclus every 15 min. The LED RGB wallwashes would be changing color depending on what the background color would be from the video.

Ones everything was set and build it was shipped in big crates so it could be shipped to the United States and be build in the Museum of Sex.
